Thrift store sunday edition

Went to the thrifts today and found some knitting and crochet patterns.

They run from being cool to OMG I’m scared.

First the good:

pine
Dates from 1946

ms
copyright 1940. Check out the picture blown up… he’s smoking! And damn goodwill for marking the price in marker

mc
3 Total of these- mostly filet and doily type crochet.

Now for the scary:

Yup, what all the well dressed plants are wearing this year.

Image5
Poor baby. There are a couple of cute patterns in this booklet, but outweighed by the fug.

Image6
Why… just why… no wonder crochet has such a bad rep.

Barack Hussein Obama was elected the 44th president of the United States, as the country chose him as its first black chief executive.

Happy… that is all

I did IT!

No, not that…  well yeah I’ve done that (and have the spawn to prove it)… but walked to the polling place and voted.  I brought my camera along, but halfway there realized I forgot to put the memory card in it… and was not going to walk back to get it.

I think I triple checked to make sure I voted for Obama.  I felt a bit nostalgic about the voting machines.  NY has been using machines that are older then dirt (well at least here in Erie County- apparently there are a few that date to the 1930s!)- but they still work.  The polling place is a bit of a pain.  The options for getting in are really steep concrete stairs or a hidden elevator- which can be a bit flakey.  It was added on to the building and if a door or screen isn’t completely shut then it won’t move… so can call it and it won’t come.  That luckily did not happen today (it has it in the past).  But I got to the floor where voting was taking place and the people working there had no idea how to get me (and the stroller) to the actual voting place (since the glass doors were blocked by machines)- but there was a side way in (and what scared me was they had no idea there was an elevator there).

I was number 161.  It seems a bit low but I guess people are going to vote on their way home from work (and the old people haven’t gotten out yet).  But the process was quick and easy and did not have to deal with the lines that other parts of the country are dealing with.

I really should be cleaning

But instead I’m futzing around with the new design/ layout of the blog.  So far not too much broken… except lost my Ravelry photos in my project widget… and with all the wordpress changes can’t figure out how to to fix it.  I think it has to do with the widget being written for a number of versions ago.

Also need to change the pictures at the top.  And chase a toddler…
